Tesla Battery Day summary :Battery Costs should Drop by Half Within 3 Years

Musk announced a series of advances, and these are realistic goals and incremental improvements in the individual components and processes, that will yield to :

--> a 54 percent increase in range

--> a 56 percent decrease in the dollar per kilowatt-hour pack price

--> a 69 percent decrease in capital investment required for manufacturing.

All these can surely enable Tesla to make a $25,000 electric vehicle in three years.

The first change is done right now with a much thicker cell form factor, the 4680. The new tab less design simplifies manufacturing, improves the power-to-weight ratio, and virtually eliminates heat when supercharging: very big charging speed will be seen then.
This new battery will adds 16 percent range versus Tesla's current battery cells and reduces the cost per kilowatt-hour by 14 percent, and its currently being built in USA.

Besides, they are working on a silicon anode to increase range by 20 percent and lozer costs by 5 percent, and also on a high-nickel cathode that eliminates cobalt, leading to a 15 percent reduction in cost.

Great future is at hands!!

What is the most effiscient charging method

Energy is lost when charging, but lets have a look at this very informative data from youtuber b.Nyland.

It is very clear that charging at 7kw is the most effiscient.

This is the one I have at home, a Schneider EVlink Wallmounted 7KW charger.

soon a model 3 with 650 km range ?

Tesla software is showing signs that They will maybe add a new version of the model 3 , changing the current battery from 75 kw to 100kw.

That could boost the autonomy to 650 KM,.

supercharger map with range circle

Our friends of the forum "forum.supercharge.info"  made a great chart that I find useful because in addition to the list of superchargers ( that you also have on Tesla website), their interface provides the possibility to draw range circles around one or several locations. A great feature for the ones with range anxiety

Here is the link :  https://supercharge.info/map

M3P small rims

I often see questions about installing smaller rims than teh stock 20" on a M3P.
People worry about larger breakes that may not fit in 18" rims for example.

well, first there are tons of utube videos of guys that did it.
But also, and this is what I wanted to share, the Tesla software let you chnage that in your car, so it has to be possible right ?

Here is a screen shot of my M3P wheel change menu :
